Title: Would silkroaders be interested in a lower priced moneypak to bitcoin vendor?
Post by: Lil Miss Bitcoin on October 29, 2011, 03:56 am
Would silkroaders be interested in a moneypak to bitcoin vendor who would provide:

* Reasonable rates
* Up to date business hours on vendor page. If vendor is unavailable for messages or orders it will be displayed on vendor page. If vendor runs our of stock, it will be immediately updated on vendor page.
* Consistent response times to messages during vendor hours.
* As fast as possible turn around time from when moneypak is cashed until bitcoins are transferred. The worst part about sending a moneypak is waiting and hoping you won't be scammed. Moneypak value comes from speed and privacy.

If you think there would be interest, what rate do you think would be reasonable and competitive on SR? What rates have you paid in the past?

I'd love to hear what you think!

No, it's been all ripoffs lately.  What we need are silkroaders to buy their btc offsite, as you cannot provide escrow, and we've already seen what 'buyer reviews' are worth.  What, are we going to get one of these a day now?  It's too obvious an easy ripoff, but there are new people that don't know any better.

Buy btc at one of the reputable sites, and we won't have this problem, people.

Well yes, the recent scammers are hurting people and polluting the message boards so that half the topics are about these scams. Let's not discuss those here. The question is whether people would be interested in a new trustworthy vendor, not a scammer. There is something to be said about one stop shopping. There is also nothing stopping those other sites from stealing your money either, you can only trust their reputation after they've proven long term success. The same would apply here. So let's assume a vendor that sticks around and does a good job, would people be interested? It seems it only takes 1-2 days for the scamming money vendors to be outed since unlike scamming product vendors, who can rely on "shipping times", money should be received immediately.

I use BitcoinTalk...once you build up a small rep there anyone will send first to you (as long as they're not scammers either). I'd suggest taking the time to build up a reputation and then exercise it once you have it. :)

Tor is NOT the place for money exchangers. Go come up with a good business model, create a clear-net site, find a couple reputable people on the forums, offer them escrow via btcrow.com or some shit, build up a reputation, and then come back here with a link to your bitcointalk forum thread full of positive reviews.

As of right now, Get-Bitcoin.com is accepting direct deposits at both Bank of America and Wells Fargo as well MoneyPak (I think) and they charge 5%.  If you think you can beat that (and I'd be very surprised if you could earn more than $10/hour running a service like that with MoneyPak) then by all means go start your own exchange biz.

Otherwise I would advise everyone to avoid you like the plague
